Paint it Black by Rolling Stones
#3 - oyes - 08/13/2007 - 22:24
It was not Paint it Black, this was changed in the second season. The first season was an instrumental, synthesized tune with a distinctive Asian sound mixed in with acoustic guitar. Please help!

#5 - SHEHAN - 10/28/2007 - 10:52
The Theme song in the 1st series was created by Joseph Conlan and was never released for public consumption. :(
I searched high-and-low for it myself.
I have a recording if anyone is interested.

This was the first show to attempt to portray the vietnam war in a somewhat realistic manner. Hollywood needed 15 years of space to overcome the stigma which the war produced. We can never understand a historical event without the passing of time and this is a perfect example. This was the first show that I know of to portray the Tet offensive for what it really was, a U.S. victory. It took 15 years for the history books and hollywood to realize this.

You can download the series
Just get any decent usenet account and you can find it. I just downloaded it. I use the usenet group giganews.com and download through grabit. This service does have a monthly fee (not much) but there are some free services out there as well. Just do a search. You can get the whole series for no extra charge.

Theme Song and music
So, I rented the series on NetFlix, and was looking for the TV show I watched that opened with the theme, Paint It Black, and was just SURE the series was Tour of Duty. Reading above, about how they weren't allowed to use the music explains why I thought I'd gotten the wrong series. Does anyone know if I can watch the series on the computer from FX?

One of my favorite tv series
Could never wait for Thursday evening, because Tour of Duty was on.Always made sure i was home to watch it.My oldest son "Ezekiel" born in March of 1989 was named after Sgt.Zeke Anderson,he also goes by Zeke,I was always amazed when people would ask where did you get the name Zeke, guess they didn't watch the show, and besides Ezekiel is a book of the Bible too.It is not the same with different music,I wanted my son to watch it,but the music helped make the show what it was.Hope to find the original.
