The 80's TV show Simon & Simon chronicles the adventures of two private investigator brothers. A.J. Simon is the polished brother who likes fine wine and drives fancy cars. Rick Simon the cowboy boot wearing, four wheel driving older brother.

TV Show Plot For Simon and Simon

The brothers Simon are complete opposite characters. A.J. attended law school, while Rick served in Vietnam. A.J. likes to do everything by the book, while Rick tries to get the job done on his own terms.

Other Simon & Simon series characters included: Police detective Downtown Brown, played by Tim Reid (WKRP in Cincinnatti). Downtown worked with the Simons both on and off the books. Mary Carver played the mother of Rick and AJ - Cecelia Simon.

The series ran from 1981 to 1989 for a total of 156 episodes. It was canceled by CBS in the middle of the last season and the final episodes never ran in prime time.

Trivia for the TV Show Simon and Simon

The Simon & Simon pilot was based in South Florida, and the show was called "Pirates Key." The show's setting moved to San Diego and most of the filming was done in Los Angeles when the show became a regular series.

Early ratings were poor for Simon & Simon. The show was saved when it was moved directly following the hit series Magnum P.I. on Thursday nights.

I have seen all 9 seasons out in a boxed set at the following site:

I am not sure if this is a bootleg set or one made overseas (the price is very cheap and has no region coding on it) You can take a look for yourself and decide. I am not affiliated with this site in any way....just passing on info.

I throughly enjoyed the Simon and Simon Show and wish there were more shows on TV like that one. It is very rare you see a funny and interesting show, especialy with any mystery to it that all the family cen enjoy watching.

Beware of buying any boxed sets...I bought one and was very diapointed...the picture wasnt great and the shows were not any order by season and one of the dvd's won't even play...100 dollars wasted :( :-P
