TV Show Plot For Riptide

Riptide was one of several TV series based on the 1983 movie Blue Thunder. The show ran primarily on Tuesday nights on NBC from 1984 to 1986, and covered a total of 55 episodes.

The main characters in the series are Cody Allen and Nick Ryder. Thay are two long-time buddys who had served together in Vietnam. Cody and Nick then hire another old friend from Vietnam, computer genius and social misfit Murray "Boz" Bozinsky. Lt. Quinlan was another character in the series and usually gave the PI's a hard time.

Boz invented Roboz, a small orange ant looking robot. Roboz was able to obtain info and display it on a screen built into its chest. Not bad technology for the 80's!

The name of the show comes from the yacht in which their private investigation business is conducted, the Riptide, docked at pier 56 in King Harbour in Los Angeles. At first, the business is call Pier 56 Detective Agency, but was later changed to Riptide.

Trivia for the TV Show Riptide

The show Riptide initially featured the use of a helicopter, as in the movie Blue Thunder. But producers soon dropped the idea and went to more traditional private-eye car chases.

In addition to Riptide, two other prime time tv shows were based on the movie Blue Thunder; "Airwolf" on CBS in 1984 and "Blue Thunder" on ABC the same year.

BEEN THINKING I WAS GOING BONKERS BECAUSE NO ONE COULD REMEMBER A TV SHOW WITH A PINK HELICOPTER.JUST SHOWS NO ONE REMEMBERS OLD TVSHOWS.
