In the TV show Murder, She Wrote, Angela Landsbury plays a former substitute English teacher and a mystery writer who is very good at solving murder mysteries.

Other Murder She Wrote series characters included: Tom Bosley (Charlie's Angels) as Sheriff Amos Tupper; Ron Masak plays Sheriff Mort Metzger; William Windom as Dr. Seth Hazlitt, Michael Horton as Angela's nephew Grady Fletcher; Jerry Orbach guest starred as private investigator Harry McGraw; Private investigator Charlie Garrett was played by Wayne Rogers (TV show MASH); and Michael Hagarty, played by Len Cariou, was an undercover agent.
