TV Show Plot For Moonlighting

The TV show Moonlighting starred Bruce Willis as David Addison and Cybill Shepherd as Madolyn 'Maddie' Hayes. This detective spoof was a mixture of drama, comedy and romance. The TV series revived Shepherd's acting career, and at the same time brought Willis to the world's attention.

Other Moonlighting series characters included: Agnes DiPesto (Allyce Beasley) who was the detective firm's receptionist; Herbert Viola (Curtis Armstrong) was a temp employee turned Blue Moon private investigator who had a thing for Agnes.

Notable guest stars included: Eva Marie Saint as Virginia Hayes; Mark Harmon as Sam Crawford and C. Thomas Howell as a Post Office Worker.

Moonlighting had ongoing production problems, and the show became famous for airing reruns because new episodes were not yet finished. In fact, throughout it's run, the contracted 22 episodes were never delivered.

Moonlighting was a ratings hit in it's earlier seasons. After the third season, ratings began to decline. The series was canceled in May of 1989, just six episodes into the 1988-89 season.

The Moonlighting TV show lasted a total of 66 episodes on ABC from 1985 to 1989. All seasons of the Moonlighting series are available on DVD.
