TV Show Plot For Laverne and Shirley
The characters of Laverne and Shirley were originally the girlfriends of Fonze and Richie on the TV series Happy Days. In the spin-off the two girls lived in the same city of Milwaukee, and worked as bottlecappers the Shotz Brewery.
The other characters on the show included: Laverne's father, Frank De Fazio who managed the Pizza Bowl; Edna Babish, the apartment landlady who later married Frank; Carmine 'The Big Ragu' Ragusa was a former Golden Gloves boxer turned singer/dancer, who at times had a love relationship with Shirley; Lenny Kosnowski and Andrew 'Squiggy' Squiggman lived upstairs and also worked at the brewery.
When the show shifted to California in 1980, Lenny and Squiggy followed them along with Frank, Edna and Carmine. New series characters included, apartment building manager, Sonny St. Jacques and neighbor, model Rhonda Lee.
The Laverne & Shirley TV series began on ABC in January, 1976 and became an instant hit. The show ranked number 3 in the Nielsen ratings for the 1975-1976 season as a mid-season replacement. The series ran for a total of 178 episodes from 1976 to 1983.
