Television Show Summary

The Jeffersons was a mid 70's - 80's successful spinoff TV show from All in the Family series. By the mid 70's, George Jefferson's dry-cleaning business had grown into a small chain. His newfound wealth had the Jefferson family "movin' on up" to a deluxe apartment in Manhattan.

TV Show Plot For Jeffersons, The

The Jeffersons TV series aired on CBS television for ten years from 1975 to 1985. The program was created by producers Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin. The pair had previously developed TV ratings blockbusters such as Maude, Sanford and Son, and Good Times.

George and Louise Jefferson live a financially successful life in a penthouse apartment in New York City. They also have a live-in housekeeper, the wise-cracking maid Florence. Tom and Helen Willis were the Jeffersons upstairs neighbors and also Jenny's parents. Mother Jefferson was George's firey mother who often battled with Louise. Harry Bentley was the British next door neighbor, who worked as a translator at the United Nations. Ralph was the building doorman who always strongly hinted for tips from the Jeffersons and all the other residents in the building.

Early in the series, the Jeffersons' son Lionel (who also appeared on All In The Family) was attending college and graduated in 1976. He married Jenny Willis, and they had a daughter Jessica in 1979.

Creators Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin liked to deal with controversial issues in their TV shows. Jeffersons' neighbors Tom and Helen Willis were TV's first interracial couple.

The series was suddenly pulled from the network lineup without warning, so a proper final episode was never shot.

"The Jeffersons" has have been my very top, #1, not-to-miss tvland show of all times. If you could answer me back about ifyou got the 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th seasons back in stock, I would appreciate that. I am a huge, huge "Jeffersons" fan and I am a true 100% American citizen. This show had have influenced me and life.

My number one idol has always been Isabel Sandford and my number 2 is Marla Gibbs. I know that on the show they were a maid and an employer, but I always thought of them being more like life-long family-friends. Do you think in very same way too?

If the Jeffersons lived in the penthouse apartment, how did the Willis's live upstairs?

Building will frequently call the top 3 or 4 floors the "penthouse" in order to get a higher price for the unit.

waiting on the other seasons to be released

what is taking so long for the other seasons to be released? rumors were that season 7 was to be released in 08. i notice a lot of people are waiting axiously for these seasons. I want to know who do we need to contact to request for the other seasons to be released. i see that jeffersons was made by sony pictures. i even looked on their website to see if there was a comment section to submit in a req. I hope that website can help with the other seasons to be released.
