The Golden Girls 80's TV show is based on the lives of four older women housemates whom have all been either divorced or widowed. The series aired from 1985 to 1992.

The Golden Girls were Dorothy (Beatrice Arthur), Rose (Betty White), Blanche (Rue McClanahan) and Dorothy's mother Sophia (Estelle Getty). There are also the recurring series characters Herb Edelman as Stan and Harold Gould as Miles. Other guest stars on the sitcom included Burt Reynolds, Quentin Tarantino, Don Ameche, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney and George Clooney.

Trivia for the TV Show Golden Girls, TheEstelle Getty (Sophia) who plays Dorothy's mother is actually several months younger than Bea Arthur. It took 45 minutes to do the makeup for Getty to be changed into Sophia.
