I used to watch this show as a student in Europe and absolutely loved it's simple elegance and intellectual quality.
How many seasons did it run and why was it taken off the air?
#9 - Hali - 01/17/2008 - 01:00
Pin in McCall's lapel
McCall usually wore some kind of pin in his left lapel. Does anyone know what it was or signified?

Beware full set DVD
I purchased the full set DVD offered on the internet from an outfit in Canada. The quality was DISMAL. Only three of twenty two DVDs would load and if they did, the images skipped constantly. It took two weeks (at least) to contact the vendor for a refund. Emails went unanswered and phone company indicated the number given was "not in service at this time". A refund was finally received after a very long wait. Good series, but wait until the series is released by a KNOWN producer.

Full set DVD is BAD!
I too purchased the full DVD set and have been trying to go through them as time would allow. I also discovered incredibly bad quality. Looks like they were captured from A&E and then recorded to DVD. Also got the phone company message. Would you please pass along how you finally got a hold of these losers? Thanks.

Pin in McCall's lapel
The lapel pin is trademark of the suit designer from the costume department...look for an onyx tie-tac with gold trim...that's what I wear when I drive my black Series III Jaguar XJ6!

Longtime Equalizer fan
As everyone else seems to be I could not get enough of the show.I anxiously await the release of season two. Thanks for the tip to avoid the shysters advertising the complete series.Once while accepting a golden globe award he remarked that he was known in the circles as the fourth best actor in the world. He certainly had a striking prescence whever I saw him. Thanks Edward Richard

The Equalizer is an excellent show
The Equalizer was an excellent quality show and it is a shame its not shown on TV. Hopefully soon more seasons will be out on DVD. I often wonder why someone doesn't start a cable channel and just show classic tv shows.....the list is long of the great shows of the 60s,70s,and 80s that we never seen on tv anymore and are not on dvd..TV Land use to have a good variety of classic shows but lately they are becoming more MTV like with those deadful reality shows.

I too loved this program and weakened and purchased a cheap set from China, and was very disappointed with the quality, but at least I have something. I have been doing a lot of research recently on Edward Woodward since his death, voted sexiest man during the Equalizer years and I have to agree. He had a real presence.May even buy a Jag one day if I can find the right one.

I enjoyed watching the Equalizer every night, could never get enough of it. I miss McCall and his shapeness. He was quick and stern with a touch of class. And I loved his Jaguar and I liked it so much that I bought one. Blue 2004 XType. Yes we need a network that would run Classic Private Eye Shows,so much for TV land and A&E

Let us know what the quality is like if you get them. From what I can tell, those are both the same store. I would be a little leery about getting them.
