The 80's TV show Designing Women premiered in the fall of 1986. The series was a half-hour sitcom about four sophisticated Southern belles always willing to share their strong opinions at their interior design business.
TV Show Plot For Designing Women
Designing Women is the story of Julia Sugarbaker, a soft spoken southern belle with her former beauty queen snobish sister Suzanne. The women own "Sugarbakers Design House" in Atlanta, Georgia.
Other Designing Women co-workers included the red head Mary Jo and the not so smart but pretty Charlene. Anthony was an ex-con recently released from prison, who got a job at Sugarbakers making deliveries.
In 1993 Julia sold the Sugarbaker's design firm business to her friend and new co-worker Bonnie to end the series.

Designing Women was an immediate critical success and drew a devoted cult following, but the ratings were poor. CBS almost cancelled the show, but received an avalanche of letters and phone calls that provided the show one last chance. The second season was a hit and the program remained successful for many years.
