TV Show Plot For Benson

When Benson arrived at the governer's mansion, he took over running the household against the wishes of the current staff.

Other Benson TV series characters included: Katie Gatling, the governor's daughter; Gretchen Kraus, the German housekeeper; Marcy Hill, the governor's secretary; John Taylor, the political aide; and Pete Downey, the press assistant.

Benson moved up through the ranks during the series network run. He went from butler to head of the Governor's household staff, then became the state's budget director, and was then promoted to Lieutenant Governor. In the final season, Benson challenged Gatling for governer.

In 1986, ABC cancelled Benson and left the show ending on a cliffhanger. It was never revealed wheather Benson or Gatling won the election for governor.
