This is another example of a great 80's movie gone horribly wrong as a TV show. They even tried to use Dolly Parton's sister in the role Dolly played in the movie! This one died a slow death over three painful seasons.

the best line
Fred Applegate played E. Nelson Felb (1987-1988. He had the line " I lie, I like to lie, I lie alot, and I mean that!" One of my favorite lines of all time. I was may be 8 years old when i heard it and it has stayed with me all my life.

Looking for E. Nelson Felb
If anyone has any episodes with E. Nelson Felb, I'd like to get a copy. This was one of my favorite characters of all time. The line quoted above is classic. He made no excuses, he was just a miserable person. LOL
Please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org

The original movie was very sitcom-like, so it's hardly a travesty it was turned into an actual sitcom. I don't remember the original early 80s run with Rita Moreno, but I do remember its successful first-run syndication '86-'88 with Sally Struthers. At the very least it succeeded as a guilty-pleasure, which is all a good sitcom needs to do.
