Two of the most memorable athletes of the 80's for me growing up in New York were Don Mattingly of the Yankees and Patrick Ewing of the Knicks. Both were great players who never won a championship in the 80's.

I remember watching the A's, when Jose Conseco was the man!

My favorite pitcher to this day is Randy Johnson..... still going strong!

There was the great rivalry of the Lakers Magic Johnson and Celtics Larry bird in Basketball. And of course Joe Montana of the Football 49ers, 3 superbowls in the 80's!

I havent really gotten into sports lately. Larry Bird was my fav BB player, until he retired, then when he came back to the biz, i kinda just lost interest.. its one thing to watch them play, but to watch them on the other end to me isnt as good. I live in MN, land of the "always in trouble" vikings, only good sport out of this state is the college girls team lol..

Hey KC,

Just read on the Project 80's home page news

9/29/1987 NY Yankee Don Mattingly hits record 6th grand slam of year!

WOW - shame his back injury cut his career short.

Wade Boggs was one of the greatest 80's hitters in Major League Baseball. I saw on the Project 80's home page he was the first player with six consecutive 200 hit seasons.
