DVD Release

The DVD for the movie Time Bandits was released on February 1, 2011 by IMAGE ENTERTAINMENT and is rated PG.

In “Time Bandits” a young boy named Kevin has a wardrobe that contains a time hole. Through it a group of short, stocky fellows appear while escaping from their master, a creature they call the ‘Supreme Being’.

The dwarfs end up taking Kevin with them on a series of adventures that go from Napoleonic times to the Middle Ages and even to the 1900’s. At last these “Time Bandits” travel to the time of legends to seek the Fortress of Ultimate darkness and confront evil.

Robin Hood - John Cleese
King Agamemnon/Fireman - Sean Connery
Dame Pansy/Pansy - Shelley Duvall
Mrs. Ogre - Katherine

In the original “Time Bandits” script, King Agamemnon was introduced as “the warrior took off his helmet, revealing someone that looked exactly like Sean Connery”. To Terry Gilliam’s surprise, the script ended up in Connery’s hands, which ended up interested in the part so his agent approached the movie crew for the role.

The footage used in “Time Bandits” during the Titanic sinking scene is actually footage from the film “A Night to Remember” (1958), adequately colorized and slowed down.
