Plot

The movie Summer School starts with a not very hard-working gym teacher Freddy Shopp (Harmon) ready to go to Hawaii during Summer Holidays. Yet something unexpected comes up and he is put in charge of a group of a “Summer School” remedial English Class made up of a bunch of misfits and an exchange student.

Not having the slightest idea how to really teach he decides they all should have a good time at the beach or so, until he is caught by vice principal Gils (Thomas) who threatens him with being fired unless all students pass the final English test. Shoop must then make sure all of them study, but first of all he must learn how to teach.

When the students take their final exam near the end of the film Summer School, the song “Mind over Matter” plays and is performed by E.G. Daily. It was originally recorded by Debbie Harry (of Blondie) but because of legal conflicts she was replaced by Daily on the final soundtrack.
