Plot

A Soldier’s Story narrates the events that surround the murder of a World War II black veteran, Sergeant Waters, who was returning home. The white citizens of the area are the prime suspects, but who is the killer?

A military black lawyer is dispatched from Washington D.C. in order to find the guilty person. Through the rest of A Soldier’s Story, Captain Davenport will have to deal with an uncooperative chain of command and resentful black soldiers.
