Plot

Stacy Hamilton (Jennifer Jason Leigh) and Mark Ratner are looking for a love interest, and are helped along by their older classmates, Linda Barrett (Phoebe Cates) and Mike Damone. Jeff Spicoli (Sean Penn) is a perpetually stoned surfer dude who faces off with the teacher Mr. Hand (Ray Walston), who is convinced that everyone is on dope.

There are solo songs in the Fast Times soundtrack by four different members of the band The Eagles.

When Damone tells Rat to put on side 1 of Led Zeppelin IV on his date with Stacy, the song Kashmir plays in the next scene, which is actually from the Zeppelin album Physical Graffiti.

Despite Universal Studios thinking that Fast Times At Ridgemont High would have no interest outside of Southern California, the movie wound up earning over $27 million in its original theatrical run, on a budget of $4.5 million.
