Not much of a reason to buy this DVD unless you want to see Richard Gere and Valerie Kaprisky naked. Gere gives his all acting in this film, but the script and concept is lacking.

One corny movie
If you want have a chuckle at corny one-liners and a plot that's straight out of 50's rebellion/teen angst, except the characters are slightly older with lots of tits & ass, then go right ahead and see this crappy 80's movie co-starring the worst bit of acting in history from the female lead.

Ok, this movie has to be seen. Richard Gere gives his best ever performance and the direction by Jim McBride is exceptional.....Just watch the pink cadillac disappear through the donught

This is a remake of a french movie. Never saw the orginal movie. This version is excellent, for its time, early 80s.
Richard Gere is awesome as Jesse Lujack. Just love his acting & his body is hot.

I especially enjoyed Richard at the beginning of his movie career in such a raw and unfiltered state you JUST DONT SEE TODAY!!!!This unpretentious script allows the audience(at least with me) to relate with Gere's character (jessee)and in some ways (especially in the movie house love scene) is a throw back to the romantic movies in the 40's and 50's.Could'nt you feel the magnetism that is somehow lacking in today's sexual-obsessed theme movies!!!!

Better than the original, at least
This is of course the American re-make of the French original ("À Bout de Soufflé", which means "Breathless") -- and I think it's better. At least it's more visually fun, action-packed... all the things Americans are going to do, versus the French.
Great scenes of L.A. lifestyle. Richard Gere is quite good... the French actress, not so much, but that doesn't matter. Richard Gere's wardrobe is weirdly memorable.
