Summary

This 80’s movie is an adaptation of the novel Beaches, written by Iris Rainer Dar, where two women find that their friendship will last forever.

Plot

Beaches narrates the story of two friends, CC Bloom and Hillary Essex, who meet at a hotel in Atlantic City. They become friends and maintain contact throughout the years thanks to letters.

CC Bloom becomes a successful Human Rights Lawyer a graduates from Stanford, while Hillary Essex finds herself struggling to launch her career as a singer. Although their friendship may be compromised by a man, in the end, Beaches shows us that a friendship can be eternal.

Trivia

In order to play her role correctly in Beaches, Barbara Hershey had to inject her lip with collagen so she would look younger.

A TV sequel for Beaches was planned, with Barbara Eden in the role of CC Bloom. In the end, it was never produced.

Beaches is one of my favourite movies, and have been lead to believe that it is, in fact, a true story. Is this true if so can you tell me more.

You got the characters a little mixed up. CC is the singer and Hillary is the attorney.

Yes, it was Hillary who was thw lawyer and CC was the singer. This is one of my favorite movies. As a cancer patient I SO treasure my friends. Times are hard but there is always someone worse off. This movie makes me laugh and cry. As a former nurse, I can really laugh at CC in the delivery room!!!
