Lyrics Into The Night Benny Mardones

Song Lyrics For Into The Night by Benny Mardones

Benny Mardones

She's just sixteen years old
Leave her alone, they say
Separated by fools
Who don't know what love is yet
But I want you to know

If I could fly
I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night
And show you a love
Like you've never seen, ever seen

It's like having a dream
Where nobody has a heart
It's like having it all
And watching it fall apart
And I would wait till the end
Of time for you
And do it again, it's true
I can't measure my love
There's nothing to compare it to
But I want you to know

If I could fly
I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night
And show you a love
Oooooh, if I could fly
I'd pick you up
I'd take you into the night
And show you a love
Like you've never seen, ever seen
Yeah, Ooooooh....

Excellent
I really enjoy the song lyrics but it's a pitty that a singer like Benny does not get the recognition he deserver. The beauty about Benny the more you go into his song the more captivated you get.I just cannot stop it's great.

and I guess I listened 10 times before leaving! LOL! I was so glad to find this site also!
Benny is also great, and so talented...It would be wonderful if some of these artist's from the past came back into the spotlight!!!

Wedding Song
;-)This is a very special song for my husband and I, it was our wedding song 16 yrs ago today. I still remember the very first time we heard it, on the dance floor at a club and then we shared our first kiss and well the rest is history!!!

Nice song
eh.....when I was 16,17 I had a thing going with an older man, and I turned out ok. Whenever I hear of that song, I think of him. We didn't have sex, and he wasn't a perv...not all men are like that. I think he was just going through a mid life crisis of sorts, and I was attracted to older men because the boys my age were complete idiots. I really don't think I was molested in any way.

I love this song I recently heard it again on the radio in Trinidad and I can't get the words out of my head I am always singing it I wish they still wrote song like that. and I don't think it was meant to be a dirty song anyway I still love it
#7 - sherry - 10/06/2008 - 18:40
yeah! but ick
Love the melody, and all the lyrics - how romantic - but you know it's about a 16 year old, and ICK! My daughter's age, you know? Here's this guy with a gravelly old voice lusting after some young thing. My theory is this is why he was essentially a one-hit wonder. Once I realized what the song was saying, I felt dirty. How 'bout a re-tweak of that first line and a whole new generation might appreciate what could be a wonderful classic.

Maybe it is about him when he was younger
I don't feel like this song was written about a man that was all that much older than this girl. He may very well have written it about someone he was in love with years ago but her parents thought being 18 or even a little older was too old for their daughter. I am not feeling that he had perverted intentions when he wrote this song. I feel that it was written for someone he truly cared about when he was younger.

it's a love song
since when does a love song have to be about sex? It's about love for crying out loud ! If I could fly which in itself is an impossible situation: suggests infactuation. Romance. even, ora a bit woeful wooing and for ya'll who keep associating these uplifting lyrics with paedophila please take your mind out of the gutter and try this for perspective; Patrick Swayze in Dirty Dancing "no one puts Baby in a corner "
Peace Out ;-)

Our song
this song is great for me and my boyfriend. he is 17 years older than me. I wa 18 when we met and started dating. everyone told us we shouldnt be together. but he is the one man that i love and the love i have for him compares to that of no other. this is truly "Our Song".
#12 - Ashley - 02/14/2009 - 00:09
love this song
In 1986 I was 15 and met and fell in love with a guy that was 22. He found this song on an old cassette and played it for me. We were very much in love, but the age difference became a problem because of people making threats (not my family!) We parted ways and the last time I saw him, I was standing at my backdoor watching rain drops pelting his green henley as he got into his camaro and drove away. In summer of 2008, I found him on Myspace. It took me 24 hours to get up the nerve to message him. 4 weeks later, he moved to Texas and we got married. :)

WOW!!!
The first time i heard this song was this morning and it stuck with me all day long! So i made it mine and my best friends song! He's 7 almost 8 years older than me, and i'm 16! My parents (and his) don't approve of us dating, so he is sitting back and waiting on me to turn 18, I kind of feel like this song was written just for me, except for the fact it was written way before i was born...lol! Anywho! ~Peace~

#17 - Shaun - 09/28/2009 - 16:11
sounds like this guy is a child rapist
#18 - T-Dogg - 10/15/2009 - 00:13
I LOVE THIS SONG!
These old songs still have such a wonderful effect on most people, unlike some modern love songs that are forgettable!
It's funny how some comment that he sounds like a pervert, child rapist, etc! I suppose you prefer hearing lyrics about having sex, cheating or some other unromantic crap that is forgotten a year after it's release! This song is awesome!:-o

Into the Night
Mardones could not write that calibre of song again, because he didnt write "Into The Night" in the first place. In the 70"s Mardones was using the name "Troy"...and he and I were trying to break into the music biz, and while showing each other our original material,he ripped me off.My only satisfaction is knowing he could never have a follow up hit...& this failure to duplicate has helped me to live with it......Wallyenquist@yahoo.com

Bitter Sweet...
I love this song....
1980
She WAS 16, I was 17. It was a love that was never going to last and yet we managed to hang on to it for 15 years...
I loved her more than life itself.
Unfortunately, 14 years since I last saw her, I still do.

"And I would wait till the end
Of time for you
And do it again, it's true"

Composer of music, and writer of lyrics for\" Into the Night\".........
Most of YOU ALL are correct. This was a love song that I wrote about a girl that I was very much in love with.So much so, that we married each other.... In the early 70\"s,some friends and I collaborated with one another in hopes of creating a \"product\" that some ESTABLISHED performer would select to record.....with hopes of securing our future in the music biz.......Benny stole my tune...hightailed it to California and got a record deal with the story of my love affair w/Nancy.When you steal one horse, you can only sell it once. The horsethief that he is....explains quite well, why he only had one album with the record deal he got with my song.Benny...I wish you well. I have moved on,But I admire your gift.Only you could do justice to my song, with YOUR VOICE.Cordially,WALTERENQUIST p.s.how are the scars from the pitchfork?

What great memories!
I was 8 1/2 years old when I heard this song playing in one of my older sister's record player, and after all these years I still love it! this is what beautiful music of being in love is all about, nothing like the trash we hear playing today on the radio!
