Will To Power Artist Bio and LyricsThe American ‘80s dance band Will to Power was led by Bob Rosenberg, a producer, DJ, and remixer. Will to Power scored numerous hits throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, including the medley “Free Baby,” which combined Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Free Bird” with Peter Frampton’s “Baby, I Love Your Way.” It made it to Number One on the Billboard charts in the United States.
The roots of Will to Power go back to the year 1985, when Rosenberg was employed at a dance music radio station as one of the country’s first “On Air” radio mix DJs. During this period, Rosenberg produced several remixes and medleys of various hits which became immensely popular during his tenure at the station. 2 Live Crew eventually hired Rosenberg to provide cuts for their album Miami Bass. In the year 1987, Rosenberg formed Will to Power with Suzi Carr and Dr. J. “Dancin,” the group’s first effort, became a popular dance song in the Miami area. It also had success on radio stations in San Francisco and New York. Other hit Will to Power songs from that era include “Fading Away,” “Say It’s Gonna Rain,” and “Free Baby.” By the year 1990, Will To Power had been paired down to a duo consisting of Rosenberg and singer Elin Michaels. Their album of that year, Journey Home, was well received and contained the song “Boogie Nights,” a re-make of the hit disco track. In the year 1996, Love Power, Will to Power’s third album, was released. |
