Whitney Houston Artist Bio and Lyrics
Born on the 9th of August 1963, Whitney Houston is a well known ‘80s artist. She is renowned for her powerful coloratura soprano singing voice, as well as the range, power, and melismatic skill of her vocals. She first rose to prominence in the year 1985 with the release of her eponymous debut album, which was successful around the world. She scored numerous hit singles on the charts in the United States. Houston was one of the premiere African American artists to receive heavy rotation on the early days of MTV.
In the following decade, Houston continued to score successes with the release of each album, many of which were soundtrack albums to films Houston had appeared in. The most popular of these was undoubtedly The Bodyguard, which featured the Number One hit “I Will Always Love You.” In recent years, Houston’s albums have been less successful. This coincides with much controversy in Houston’s personal life, which has included allegations of drug addiction, public displays of bizarre behavior, numerous cancellations of public appearances, and more. Houston recently entered rehab, and is allegedly recording a new album. She is one of the best selling artists in the world of popular music. Over 170 million albums have been sold all over the world. The albums of Whitney Houston include Whitney Houston, Whitney, I’m Your Baby Tonight, My Love Is Your Love, Just Whitney, One Wish: The Holiday Album, The Bodyguard Soundtrack, Waiting to Exhale Soundtrack, The Preacher’s Wife Soundtrack, Whitney: The Greatest Hits, and Love, Whitney. |
