Whitesnake Artist Bio and Lyrics

The ‘80s hard rock band Whitesnake was founded in the year 1977 by former Deep Purple member David Coverdale. While they attained the height of their popularity in the 1980s, Whitesnake continues to tour to this day, albeit with a different line up. Over the years, many famous musicians have played in Whitesnake; some of them include Steve Vai, Jon Lord, Tommy Aldridge, Ian Paice, Vivian Campbell, Cozy Powell, Adrian Vandenberg, Neil Murray, John Skyes, Bernie Marsden, and Micky Moody. The band’s sound has frequently been compared to Deep Purple – not only because it has featured several of Deep Purple’s former members, but because their musical influences are similar.

The roots of Whitesnake go back to the year 1977, when David Coverdale decided to start a band after the release of two solo albums, David Coverdale’s Whitesnake and Northwinds.

In their early years, Whitesnake played blues rock – a style that was also described by David Coverdale as “progressive rhythm and blues.” The band’s earliest line up consisted of Bernie Marsden, Neil Murray, and Micky Moody, in addition to David Coverdale, with a revolving line up of drummers and keyboardists.

The albums of Whitesnake include Snakebite, Trouble, Lovehunter, Ready an’ Willing, Come an’ Get It, Saints & Sinners, Slide it In, Whitesnake, Slip of the Tongue, Restless Heart, Live at Hammersmith, Live…in the Heart of the City, Starkers in Tokyo, Live: In the Shadow of the Blues, Whitesnake’s Greatest Hits, Here I Go Again: The Whitesnake Collection, and Whitesnake Gold.
