Tina Turner Artist Bio and LyricsWhen a young singer by the name of Anna Mae Bullock began working with Ike Turner in the year 1958, he gave her the stage name Tina Turner. Two years later, the pair would be married. She started out as a back up vocalist, but within a few years, she had become the spotlight act of a soul revue led by Ike Turner’s Kings of Rhythm group. She would go on to become a famous ‘80s artist. Tina wound up singing the vocals for the rhythm and blues number “A Fool in Love” when the originally scheduled vocalist didn’t show up to the recording session. The song would become a major hit, securing Ike and Turner’s status as soul icons. Despite their success as an act, the marriage of Ike and Tina was rocky. In the 1970s, after being beaten severely, Tina left Ike and later filed for divorce. She went on to launch a successful solo career that would transform her into a superstar in the 1980s.
