Born Kenneth Clark Loggins on the 7th of January 1948, Kenny Loggins is a renowned ‘70s and ‘80s artist and songwriter. He is perhaps best known for his work soft rock songs that were hits during the former decade. He started off as a member of the duo Loggins and Messina, but later launched a successful solo career.

Loggins performed with Jim Messina until the year 1976. The following year, Loggins launched his highly successful solo career with the album Celebrate Me Home. That album contained the hit song “I Believe in Love.” His next album, Nightwatch, contained the famous duet “Whenever I Call You Friend” with Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac fame. In the year 1979, Loggins’s album Keep the Fire was released. It featured the hit song “This is It,” which would later be sampled by rapper Papoose on his 2005 song “Cherrades.”

Loggins’s work throughout the ‘80s was distinguished by his numerous contributions to movie soundtracks, most notably the title song for Footloose. He also contributed “I’m Alright” to Caddyshack, “Meet Me Halfway” to Over the Top, and two tracks to the Top Gun soundtrack.
