The ‘80s artist Kenny G was born Kenneth Gorelick on the 5th of June 1956. His breakthrough album, Duotones, was released in the year 1986, bringing the saxophonist instant stardom. Kenny G’s main instrument is the soprano saxophone, but he also plays such instruments as the flute, as well as the tenor and alto saxophones.

Kenny G’s musical career began when he was hired to play with Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra in the late 1970s. That was the time when he decided to adapt the moniker Kenny G. After graduating from the University of Washington, he joined the Jeff Lorber Fusion. He played on the band’s 1980 album Wizard Island. Shortly after leaving the Jeff Lorber Fusion, Kenny G embarked upon a solo career.

Kenny G’s best known song from the ‘80s was “Forever In Love,” for which he won a Grammy Award. He has collaborated with such artists as Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, Toni Braxton, Aretha Franklin, and Steve Miller.
