John ParrLyrics St. Elmo'S Fire (Man In Motion)

John Parr began his music career at the age of twelve when he started a band with his classmates called the Silence. The Silence enjoyed considerable success, eventually becoming professional enough to tour Europe. After John Parr left the Silence, he joined another group called Ponders End. While they were very popular locally, Ponders End was not able to secure a record deal, which effectively put an end to their career.

In the year 1983, Parr managed to secure a publishing deal with Carlin Music. That year, he was asked by Meat Loaf to write some songs for his new album. That was when he met John Wolfe, the manager of the Who, who was looking for a new project to sink his teeth into since the Who’s demise seemed to be right around the corner. He latched on to Parr right away. Wolfe eventually landed Parr a recording deal on Atlantic Records in New York City.

John Parr’s first hit single was called “Naughty Naughty.” The song built Parr’s career up instantly, as it was a major hit on rock radio stations throughout the United States. John Parr also wrote the theme for the film St. Elmo’s Fire.

The albums of John Parr include John Parr, Running the Endless Mile, Man With a Vision, and Under Parr.
