Joe Jackson Artist Bio and LyricsBorn David Ian Jackson on the 11th of August 1954 in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire, United Kingdom, Joe Jackson is a renowned 70's and 80's music artist. He is probably best known for his tunes “Is She Really Going Out With Him?” and “Steppin’ Out.”
Joe Jackson is respected as one of the few English artists who challenged punk in bringing a New Wave sound to the United States, alongside Graham Parker and Elvis Costello. It was in the late ’70s when Jackson was discovered by a producer, who got him signed to the A&M Records label. His first album, Look Sharp!, was recorded immediately and released in the year 1979; two albums, I’m the Man and Beat Crazy, quickly followed. Around this time, Jackson also collaborated with Lincoln Thompson. Jackson and his band were incredibly successful from the outset and spent most of the early ‘80s on tour. After the break up of the Joe Jackson Band, Jackson took a break and recorded an album of old time swing and blues songs. Jackson continues to record and perform sporadically. The albums of Joe Jackson include Look Sharp!, I’m the Man, Beat Crazy, Jumpin’ Jive, Night and Day, Mike’s Murder, Body and Soul, Big World, Will Power, Live 1980/86, Tucker, Blaze of Glory, Laughter & Lust, Night Music, Heaven & Hell, This Is It (The A&M Years 1979-1989), Symphony No. 1, Summer in the City: Live in New York, Night and Day II, Two Rainy Nights, Volume 4, and After Life. |
