Jackson was the original lead singer of the Jackson 5, the band his father Joseph started in the 1960s. In the year 1967, Michael would become the lead singer of the group, although Jermaine would continue singing co-lead vocals with Michael for several years. In the year 1969, the Jackson 5 was signed to Motown. . Jermaine would sing notable parts of the hit songs “Dancing Machine,” “I’ll Be There,” “I Want You Back,” and “I Am Love.” Like his brother Michael, Jermaine would also eventually launch a solo career. In the early 1970s, he had a hit with a cover of “Daddy’s Home” by Shep and the Limelites. Jackson married Hazel, the daughter of Berry Gordy, who owned Motown. The Jackson 5 eventually left the label, but Jermaine stayed on. Upon the release of his 1979 record Let’s Get Serious, Jackson was nominated for a Grammy Award. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Jackson scored numerous hits, including “That’s How Love Goes,” “Isn’t She Lovely,” “Let Me Tickle Your Fancy,” and “Do What You Do.” Jackson is regarded as a talented bass player. He is also renowned as a dancer. In the year 2006, it was announced that a new Jermaine Jackson record would appear the following year. |
