Gino Vannelli was born on June 16, 1952 in Montreal, Canada. He was signed to Herb Alpert’s A&M Records where he released a string of successful albums.

Gino Vannelli’s debut album, Crazy Life was released in 1973. His first chart success came in 1974 with his second album, Powerful People, which charted at number 60. His third album, Storm at Sunup also charted in the 60s.

In 1978, Gino Vannelli released his highest charting album in the US, Brother to Brother. The album rose to number 13. His next album closely followed; charting at number 15, Nightwalker was also his first album of the 1980s.

One of Gino Vannelli’s more famous albums was Black Cars in 1985. The album only charted number 62 in the US but was a bigger hit in Canada. The title track, “Black Cars,” was released as a single and climbed to number 6 in Canada, as opposed to number 42 in the US.

Gino Vannelli released one more album in the 1980s, Big Dreamers Never Sleep, in 1987. The album however, did not follow suit and only charted number 160 in the US. He continued to release non-charting albums up to his most recent in 2006.
