Genesis Artist Bio and Lyrics
Genesis was a progressive rock group formed in the 1960s. During their career the band featured revered musicians Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins.
During the 1980s, Genesis released 4 studio albums, which were all number one albums in the UK. The first of these came in 1980 with the album Duke. Duke was the bands first number one album, but their tenth attempt. In both England and the US, the album reached Platinum certification. Genesis’ next number one album came in 1981 with, Abacab. The album included singles such as, “No Reply at All,” which featured the horn section from Earth Wind & Fire, and “Keep it in the Dark.” In 1982, Genesis released their number two album of the 1980s, Three Sides Live. This live album was the bands third, and also their most successful live album to that point. In 1983, Genesis released a self-titled album. The album followed suit of its predecessors and quickly ascended to the number one position. The single, “That’s All,” was Genesis’ first top ten US single. The final Genesis album of the 1980s was Invisible Touch. The album was released in 1986. The title track became a number one single in the US. Other singles from the album included, “Land of Confusion,” and “In Too Deep.” |
