Gary Wright Artist Bio and LyricsThe American 80's music artist Gary Wright was born on the 26th of April 1943 in Creskill, New Jersey. Wright is perhaps best known for his famous song “Dream Weaver.” Wright is a good friend of George Harrison, formerly of the Beatles.
He appeared on television at the age of seven. He would later move to Europe as a student of psychology. In the late 1960s, Wright joined the band Spooky Tooth as keyboardist and vocalist. After the band’s demise in the early 1970s, Wright launched a solo career that would culminate with the release of “Dream Weaver.” “Dream Weaver” made it to Number Two on the Billboard Charts in the year 1976. The single would later go gold. The song’s popularity was later revived when it was featured on the soundtrack to the movie Wayne’s World. Wright also had a hit with the song “Love is Alive,” which made it to Number Two on the Billboard Charts, where it remained for two weeks. Wright would not attain another major chart success until the early 1980s, when he made it to Number Sixteen with “Really Wanna Know You,” a bouncy, bass driven number. His song “Comin’ Apart” would be sampled in the club anthem “My, My, My” by Armand van Helden. The albums of Gary Wright include Footprint, The Light of Smiles, Touch and Gone, Headin’ Home, The Right Place, Who I Am, First Signs of Life, The Best of Gary Wright / The Dream Weaver, and Human Love. |
