Falco was born on February 19, 1957 with the name, Johann Holzel. He began as a prodigy in classical music and turned his sights to hip-hop and rock music.

Falco released his first album in 1982, Einzelhaft. For the duration of his career, Falco found most of his success in Germany and Austria. A single off the album, “Auf Der Flucht” was released in the US and in France. His most famous single was “Der Kommissar” which was a top five hit in the US.

Falco’s next album was Junge Roemer in 1984. The title in English meant, Young Romans. This album bore no significant singles in the US.

The next album by Falco was Falco 3 in 1985. This album contained single such as “Vienna Calling,” and “Jeanny.” The single Jeanny was viewed as a very controversial single when it was released in many countries.

In 1986, Falco released Emotional. Before relaseding his next album, he had released songs about Kathleen Turner and sang a duet with Brigitte Neilson.

Falco died in a bus accident in 1998. He was 40 years old.
