Eddie Murphy Artist Bio and Lyrics

While most people know him as a Hollywood actor and comedian, Eddie Murphy was also a musical artist in the 80's. During that decade, he put out two singles – “Put Your Mouth On Me” and “Party All the Time,” the latter of which was produced by Rick James and is his best known musical work. In the year 2004, VH1 listed “Party All The Time” Number 7 on its list of the 50 Worst Songs of All Time. The song was used as a sample by Sharam on the hit “PATT (Party All the Time)” in the year 2006. The song has become an 80's cult classic.

Eddie MurphyLyrics Party All The Time

In the early 90s, Murphy recorded an album called Love’s Alright. Its single, “Whatzupwitu,” featured Michael Jackson. The video for that song, which also featured Jackson, was voted Number Three on MTV’s list of the 25 worst music videos. With Shabba Ranks, Murphy also recorded an unsuccessful duet, “I Was a King.” In the year 1992, Murphy would appear in Michael Jackson’s video “Remember the Time” alongside Iman and Magic Johnson.

While he was never credited, Murphy provided vocal work on Joe Piscopo’s hit comedy single, “The Honeymooners Rap.” Murphy imitated Art Carney on the single, while Piscopo did an imitation of Jackie Gleason.

In the Shrek films, Murphy was able to use his singing skills. In the first one, he performed a cover version of “I’m a Believer.” In the second film, he performed the Ricky Martin song “Livin’ La Vida Loca.”
