Don Henley released his solo debut in 1982 when he released I Can’t Stand Still. The album sold around 500,000 copies in the US alone, and climbed up to number 24 on the US album charts. From that album came the single, “Dirty Laundry,” this was a number 3 single on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 1984 Don Henley released his next album, Building the Perfect Beast which sold six times as many albums as his debut. The album charted number 13 in the US and 14 in the UK. It was this album that contained one of his most famous singles, “Boys of Summer.” “Boys of Summer,” climbed to number 5 in the US.

The final Don Henely album in the 1980s came in 1989. The End of Innocence, climbed up to number 8 in the US and sold almost six million copies. Ironically, the album only produced one top ten hit, “The End of Innocence.”
