Dolly Parton’s first album of the 1980s came in 1980 when she released, Dolly, Dolly, Dolly. The album only rose to number 71 on the US Hot 100, but number 7 in the US country chart. That same year, Dolly teamed up with fellow musician Porter Wagner and released Porter and Dolly. This album was a number 9 country album

In 1980, Dolly Parton had one number one country album, 9 to 5 and Odd Jobs. She also released two more top 10 country albums in 1982, starting with, Heartbreak Express which was a number 5. The next album was Winning Hand, which followed up her soundtrack release earlier that year for the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack.

In 1984, Dolly Parton released the number 7 country album, The Great Pretender. The album was a compilation of covers of 1950s and 1960s songs such as the Drifters’ “Save the Last Dance For Me.” That year she also wrote the soundtrack for the movie Rhinestone, and released a Christmas album featuring Kenny Rogers.

Dolly Parton only released one album in 1985, Real Love. The title track, “Real Love,” was a number one country single. In 1986, she released Think About Love, which was considerably less successful, only becoming a number 54 country album.

Dolly Parton’s first album in 1987 was even a top ten hit in the US Hot 100 chart. The album, Trio featured Emmylou Harris, and Linda Ronstatd, and became a number 6 Hot 100 album and number one Country album. That year she also released the album, Rainbow. Her final album of the 1980s was in 1989 when she released the number 3 country album, White Limozeen.
