Def Leppard Artist Bio and Lyrics
Def Leppard formed as Deaf Leopard in 1977. The band consisted of Rick Savage, Pete Willis, Tony Kenning, and Joe Elliot, who originally auditioned to be a guitarist and was decided better fit as front man/lead singer. They simplified the spelling of their name to dodge confusion with punk bands of the time, and also drafted another guitarist, Steve Clark in 1978. Just before entering the studio for their first E.P., drummer, Tony Kenning suddenly quit. The Def Leppard EP would feature Frank Noon, temporarily drumming in the band.
Thanks to the song, “Getcha Rocks Off,” Def Leppard’s first EP sales would skyrocket. They would then acquire fifteen year old Rick Allen as a full-time drummer. Thanks to the success of Def Leppard EP, EMI considered signing the band but chose to sign Iron Maiden instead. Def Leppard would then sign to Phonogram Records circa 1979.
In 1980, Def Leppard would release their debut album, On Through The Night. Many UK fans were disappointed at the bands obvious attempts to impress American audiences. Their album would attract vast hostility in the UK, audience members would hurl garbage at the stage to express their dissent. However, the efforts of producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange greatly enhanced the future popularity of their second album, High ‘n’ Dry.
Following slightly below average album sales, Phil Collen replaced Pete Willis due to Willis’ excessive drinking. Their third album would finally put Def Leppard on the tongues of Americans all over the country. Pyromania, would yield the song “Photograph,” which would knock off Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” from the most requested MTV video.
Def Leppard would move on to overcome great obstacles and release many more albums. In 1984, drummer, Rick Allen would lose his left arm in a car accident. He would not be stopped however, he worked together with Simmons to create a custom drumkit where most of the work was done with pedals. They then released their fourth album, Hysteria, which would give way to their greatest known single, “Pour Some Sugar On Me.” Also, Steve Clark’s drinking problem would lead to his death in 1991.
Following the loss of Clark, Def Leppard released their fifth album in 1992. After decent sales, the band would release several greatest hits, compilations and other albums. None of which would equal the success of Hysteria.

Its members, including brothers Phil and Boon Gould, along with Mark King, all came from the Isle of Wight and began playing together as teenagers. In the latter half of 1989, Phil introduced the keyboardist Mike Lindup to King. Phil and Lindup had met while studying in London at the Gui...
Def Leppard In my opinion has the best story to its long life. 10+ albums made great musicans they pretty much have it all. Hysteria has to be in the top 10 or 5 for the best album ever made, and sure they have other good albums after that, but to be honest none really compare to High N' Dry, Pyromania, And Hysteria. They are truly one of the best bands to ever dazzle us with their creativity and determination to succseed.

Def Leppard Band What I Remember About Them
I was pregnant, it was 1979, it was my first concert ever. It was in Lousiana Stadium somewhere there. I really did like The Guy in Red Leather Pants, blonde hair, named Charlie, in this band, he played a guitar, and he was a good guitar player, Ted Nugent swung out on a rope in nearly nothing that day, and AeoSmith was there too, I was only 18 years old then, I am now 49. Oh how I miss the music of my younger days. Ginny.

I freakin love Def Leppard with a passion. I grew up on them, and at 19, they are still my absolute favorite. Pour Some Sugar on Me will forever be my favorite song, although it's closely contested with a few others of theirs, such as Promises and Slang. I love just about every song of theirs, Def Leppard is the besttt!
