David Bowie began his 1980s success in 1980 with the album, Scary Monsters. The album was a smash hit, and climbed to number one in the UK and number 12 in the US. Most of the album’s success came in the UK with two top ten singles, “Ashes to Ashes,” which was a number one, and “Fashion,” which reached number 5.

The last number one album the came from David Bowie in the 1980s was in 1984 when he released Tonight. The album rested at number one in the UK and number 11 in the US. The album featured collaboration with Tina Turner and a cover of the Beach Boys’ song “God Only Knows.”

Three years later, in 1987, David Bowie released Never Let Me Down. The album was a number 6 in the UK and 34 in the US. Since then Bowies has released six more albums.

David Courtney originally discovered Sayer, and wound up managing him along with Adam Faith. Courtney and Sayer began writing songs together in the 1970s. They scored a hit with the Roger Daltrey song, “Giving it All Away,” in 1973. That was also the year that Sayer launched his own career as a solo artist with the hit single “The Show Must Go On.”...
