Dan Hartman’s third album was released in 1980 and only arrived at number 189 in the US. His single, “Relight My Fire,” however was a number one dance single that same year. In 1982 he released his next album, It Hurts to Be in Love. Unfortunately, the album bore no notable singles.

In 1984, Dan Hartman released I Can Dream About You. This would be his last successful album of the 1980s. The album featured a number six title track, and the number one single, “We Are the Young.” In 1985, “I Can Dream About You,” snuck up to number 12 in the UK.

Dan Hartman continued releasing albums until he died of a brain tumor on March 22, 1994. Following his death several greatest hits albums were released.
