Bobby McFerrin Artist Bio and LyricsBobby McFerrin was born in New York City, on March 11, 1950. He is most well-know for his song, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” He released several albums throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s.
Bobby McFerrin’s first album was self-titled and released in 1982. He also released The Voice in 1984 and Spontaneous Inventions in 1985. McFerrin released one more album before his big success; Elephant’s Child came in 1987. During 1987 he also sang the theme to the Cosby Show. In 1988 Bobby McFerrin released the album, Simple Pleasures. This album contained the major hit single, “Don’t Worry, Be Happy.” The single would be featured in the 1988 movie, Cocktail. He became known for his large vocal range of four octaves. He also achieved fame by his ability to create bass and drums at the same time with his voice and tapping on his chest. Simple Pleasures was Bobby McFerrin’s last album in the 1980s but he would continue making albums until 2003. He also won five Grammy’s during the 1980s. Among them, Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Male, and Best Recording For Children. |
