Born Robert Clark Seger in 1945, the ‘80s artist Bob Seger was originally from Michigan. After attaining much success in Detroit during the 1960s, his success grew to a national stage in the following two decades.

Seger is perhaps better known for his work with the Silver Bullet Band. Seger formed the group in the mid-70s. As a roots rocker, Seger’s songs are know for dealing primarily with working class themes. Throughout the ‘70s and ‘80s, Seger toured constantly to promote his numerous releases. He was later inducted in to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in homage to his numerous hits, which include “Like a Rock,” “Old Time Rock and Roll,” “Night Moves,” and “Turn the Page.”

The original members of the Silver Bullet Band, which was started in 1974, were Drew Abbott on guitar, Charlie Allen Martin on drums, Rick Mannassa on keyboards, Chris Campbell on bass guitar, and Alto Reed on flute and sax. Seger contributed to the band by performing all lead vocals in his signature smoky voice, while also playing the piano and guitar. Seger would frequently use session musicians on his albums, as well.

Bob Seger’s albums include Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man, Noah, Mongrel, Brand New Morning, Back in ’72, Beautiful Loser, Live Bullet, Night Moves, Stranger in Town, Against the Wind, Nine Tonight, The Distance, Like a Rock, the Fire Inside, Smokin’ O.P.’s, Greatest Hits, It’s a Mystery, Greatest Hits 2, and 2006’s Face the Promise.
