Billy Idol Artist Bio and Lyrics
Born, William Michael Albert Broad, Billy Idol managed to discover one of the most famous punk rock acts ever. Around 1977 Idol founded the band Generation X, with whom he would release three semi-successful albums under Chrysalis Records. He would quit soon after and begen persuing a career as a solo artist with the help of Steve Stevens.
Once he got to New York to work with Stevens, Billy Idol would release his first LP which would wield “White Wedding” and “Dancing With Myself.” His second LP, “Rebel Yell” would give way to massive mainstream successes. Songs like “Rebel Yell,” “Flesh For Fantasy,” and “Eyes Without a Face” would establish Idol in the United States as a megastar. Two years later, Billy Idol would release his next album. Whiplash Smile would prove a success, mainly with the inclusion of “Mony, Mony,” a live cover of Tommy James’ song of the same title. The album also included “Sweet Sixteen,” and “To Be a Lover.” Never married, Billy Idol had two kids, a son, Willem Broad and a daughter, Bonnie Blue. Billy would barely evade death on several occasions. In 1990 he would be in a motorcycle accident in which he almost lost his leg. And in 1994 he almost died of a GHB overdose. However, upon his discharge Idol got himself together and focused in on being a better father. Watch the video for Billy Idol's White Wedding here on Project 80's music. |
